I love the "okay" days. It is now two days into the year 2023. And in two days, the children's Christmas break will be over. Already I am missing the in-between days of Christmas and New Year. For me, they are the okay days - it's okay to wake up late and wear pyjamas all day. It's okay to be lazy and call it rest. It's all right to order food and have late lunch. I am loving the cool climate and it's okay to throw on a cozy sweater. These days are slow, but still making memories. I wish it's … [Read more...]
Family Getaway: Birthday at The Peninsula, Cymplified!
It has come to this point at last. To this season of motherhood... when we had to book a staycation with two rooms. You see, I have a teen and tweens. The five of us wouldn't fit in a king bed, right? Thankfully, I found this superb deal and got to celebrate my birthday at The Peninsula, Manila. I have always wanted to try their pricey halo-halo. He he! I was looking online at hotels around the metro and by chance, I saw the website of The Peninsula, Manila Hotel. By necessity, I saw the … [Read more...]
The Year That Was, Cymplified!
Twelve days into the new year 2022... (the time I started penning this, and my husband has the Covid symptoms) and things seem to be still grey and dreary. I'm waiting on the new hope that a fresh year is supposed to bring. The beginning of the year that was 2021 ringed in a glimmer of promise of some sort of normalcy as the vaccines rolled in. After 2020 saw lockdowns when agencies and most people acknowledged the virus. We got jabbed. Early on in 2021, my husband and I got our first … [Read more...]
A Fortuitous Event, Cymplified!
An Itchy Dilemma I am thankful that growing up, I am not allergic to any kind of food. Especially to peanuts, because I love nuts! But, sometimes, some things (or bodies) change. When I was pregnant with my youngest baby, I suddenly became allergic to shrimps, which I also love. It made me sad. I had to have a stash of anti-allergy meds that's safe for pregnant women. Later on, I gave birth and thankfully, it went away. Like my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in my first pregnancy. Yes! But then, … [Read more...]
Evoke Nostalgia with Plays.org, Cymplified!
Nostalgia What is nostalgia? Nostalgia, according to Google, is "a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations". So it means that nostalgia is not only remembering the past, but looking back at memories that make us happy. Reminiscing these make us smile and we somehow wish we were back in a simpler time. A time when we don't have a lot to worry about. What things evoke nostalgia for you? Nostalgic in … [Read more...]
The Midnight Library & Being 40, Cymplified!
A Visit to The Midnight Library I just finished reading "The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig. This was forever in my want-to-read list but I haven't found an inexpensive copy of it. Until I saw one on Shopee. :-) I guess being 40 meant being extra thrifty (most likely the book will just be read once or twice); and also splurging where necessary (health, wellness & education). Honestly, I could somehow relate to the main character, Nora Seed. She thinks her life is mediocre, and it's set … [Read more...]
Becoming 40, Cymplified!
The day I turned 39, I had my first Quarantine Birthday. Celebrated with a huge mocha cake from Hizon's. I forgot, though, what we ate for lunch and dinner. Ha ha! It was also an Easter Sunday. And then, I realized something. I was so close to becoming 40! (°0°) ->this is my shocked face Changes due to aging? That year, I thought I was doing okay while I was sheltering in place. I neither got Covid nor the flu (which I did almost every year because of my weak immune system), and I was … [Read more...]
