Our Christmas tree is up! It really does help to work around a theme when putting up the decor. I was inspired by Jenni's post and came up with a way to explain our tree's decorative elements. It was a challenge since I had to use our old decor and some that were given by Rix's friend a couple of years back. Hope it makes sense! Something seems to be missing when I look at the whole tree. I remarked this to Rix and without missing a heartbeat, he answered, "Gifts." Yeah. I'll be … [Read more...]
Thanksgiving {2011}, Cymplified!
Another occasion significant and popular in the United States that we don't celebrate here in the Philippines is Thanksgiving. An image of a turkey comes to my mind when I hear the word. Being thankful should be on a daily basis. It is after all part of a Christian's everyday prayer. If I remember correctly, my prayer must follow this acronym as a format: A - doration C - onfession T - hanksgiving S - upplication The people and things that I need, the things that I sometimes … [Read more...]
A Little Walk, Cymplified!
Sunday, before I get confined for my scheduled C-section, Rix, Elle and I went on an impromptu outdoor maternity shoot at University of the Philippines campus. We departed late so we were rushing to catch whatever was left of the afternoon sun. Sometimes, a little walk, nothing fancy or expensive, is beautiful in itself. Sometimes a little walk, and including her in the photoshoot, is a touching reminder that Elle's going to be a big sister again. I took this photo when we were done … [Read more...]
Torn {Mommy Guilt}, Cymplified!
Ever since I decided to be a stay-at-home-mom, I have struggled with this decision. I wanted to personally take care of my kids, but I also feel guilty for not contributing financially. Hence, I also have the desire to work. Or at least work from home. It is also a dream of mine to have my own business, but it is difficult to come up with a feasible one. The moms who work from home or who have successful businesses are quite enviable because they have the best of both worlds. Elle: Daddy, … [Read more...]
My Mama Said, Cymplified!
I'm sure our moms have statements that they always repeat to us as we grow up. Here are a few reminders that I remember being told: • Finish every single bit of rice on your plate lest you get a pock-faced husband. • Don't shower after eating a meal, you might get appendicitis. • Kissing the dog/cat can cause asthma. • Eating lots of squash could give you a good eyesight. • Sleeping while your hair is wet will make you go blind. • Towels need to be changed after three days of … [Read more...]
Breastfeeding Reminders, Cymplified!
I'm trying to psych myself now, with less than a month to go, so I came up with some points I want to remember after I give birth, so I could be encouraged to breastfeed. These are what I will think of when I see my breasts. Believe that I will produce milk for my baby. Rest when I could to avoid stress and tiredness, factors which could lower milk production. Enjoy hanging out with my baby while she feeds. Anticipate challenges. Solicit help from other breastfeeding moms or moms who have … [Read more...]
A Makati Shangri-La Stay (day 2), Cymplified!
I woke up at around 6 in the morning, still sleepy. But, I was looking forward to breakfast at Circles, Makati Shangri-La. Nomnomnom! We left after I washed the baby bottles and put them in the sterilizer. I was so full my tummy didn't even have room for the pastries and muffins. Darn! We went back to our rooms afterwards. After a little rest and getting the swimming paraphernalia ready: a beach ball and a float ring, we were set! Elle was excited, I could tell. She and daddy hanged … [Read more...]
