Once upon a time, this blog was loosely based on finding blessings in the mundane and appreciating the gift of an ordinary day. In the year 2011, I was inspired by this video. My children were still very young then, and I think that one of the most ordinary things in life is a mother taking care of her children. I felt tired and I sorely lack sleep. Recently, I found this book The Gift of an Ordinary Day by Katrina Kenison, the author in the video, on a shelf of a kiosk that sells second-hand … [Read more...]
Chapter October, Cymplified!
Chapter October Celebration One of the chapters in a year that I look forward to is Chapter October. It's not my birth month, but it's my hubby's. That means there's cake! Yum! :-P Also, it's when we celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. Thirteen years married. Whoa! That means we've known each other for almost two decades. Although we didn't discuss any plans, I was hoping we'd have lunch together before we fetch the children from school. It didn't happen. But... We had dinner at Café … [Read more...]
Missing Chapters, Missing Pages, Cymplified!
It is now October. I believe I am missing Chapters June, July, August and September. My last entry was Chapter May. Chapter June: Aside from catching up on sleep because of jet lag, I caught up on my work like paying bills, writing checks, doing assigned tasks, etc. Since my coupon code for Photobook would have expired by the end of the month, I made three albums. These photos were from our family trip to Balesin last year, my trip with my hubby to South Africa (also last year), and my … [Read more...]
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, Cymplified!
I just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. And I wish it didn't have to end. Because, there are many questions I need answers to. One of my hobbies as a kid I had a stack of stationery that came with envelopes, which I wrote letters on. I collected them, TBH. Two biscuit tin boxes sat in a plastic cabinet in my old room. These boxes contain letters and cards I received from my friends and classmates. Snail mail was the way in … [Read more...]
Chapter May: Food Edition, Cymplified!
Chapter May: En Route I pushed the luggage trolley leaving the airport, and it was like waking up from a dream as the Manila heat rushed to my face. Time seemed to have paused for me, for exactly 18 days, when I left the country. Yet, it apparently continued on for those I left in the Philippines. Something in my heart told me that I missed plenty. It's true, I missed my hubby and our kids very much. On the very first day of May, laden with luggage and bags, I was caught up in the airport … [Read more...]
Family Getaway: April Birthdays, Cymplified!
Chapter April began with a trip South to celebrate one of the April birthdays. Thank God the kids were already on vacation, thus, our minds were also already on vacation. These days, within a few minutes after I shower, beads of sweat form on my forehead and under my eyes. Summer is really upon us. The scorching sun insists upon making its presence felt; via the burning of exposed skin when we go outside. Hot & Happy in Laiya The children had the perfect idea of … [Read more...]
Mothers Hold It Together, Cymplified!
When You See Mothers Hold It Together On Instagram, it might look like some mothers hold it together perfectly. They go traveling with their families to seemingly beautiful locations, they stroll down the mall and calmly shop. Other moms show their followers their fab finds, with their children smiling and looking like they enjoy what their moms bought them. Some mommies even look like they get enough sleep and they look good & fit. Each lifestyle is different and I'd hate to compare. But … [Read more...]
