Seventeen years ago, in the seventh month, I was nursing a slight cough, a surgery wound on my abdomen, and a newborn baby girl. Thus, I went down the rabbit hole of motherhood from which I shall never emerge. Long days of feeding, burping, diaper-changing, sleepless nights to eating solid food, first steps, toilet-training culminated in the schooling years. In a flash, she's a teenager and almost 20. WHAT?!š² arts rabbit hole She grew up drawing... on paper, on walls, on her feet. Until … [Read more...]
The Gift of an Ordinary Day, Cymplified!
Once upon a time, this blog was loosely based on finding blessings in the mundane and appreciating the gift of an ordinary day. In the year 2011, I was inspired by this video. My children were still very young then, and I think that one of the most ordinary things in life is a mother taking care of her children. I felt tired and I sorely lack sleep. Ā Recently, I found this book The Gift of an Ordinary Day by Katrina Kenison, the author in the video, on a shelf of a kiosk that sells second-hand … [Read more...]
Mothers Hold It Together, Cymplified!
When You See Mothers Hold It Together On Instagram, it might look like some mothers hold it together perfectly. They go traveling with their families to seemingly beautiful locations, they stroll down the mall and calmly shop. Other moms show their followers their fab finds, with their children smiling and looking like they enjoy what their moms bought them.Ā Some mommies even look like they get enough sleep and they look good & fit. Each lifestyle is different and I'd hate to compare. But … [Read more...]
Long, Long Night, Cymplified!
What is worse than a long night of being sick, coughing and lying awake? It's a long night of my children taking ill; their foreheads, necks, backs and armpits hot with fever and their feet cold. Measuring out paracetamol for them to take every four hours. Sitting by them at the dining table, long after the meal was finished, to oversee them ingest every last drop of their antibiotics and other medicines. Here's another poem I wish to share. It's not an old one, I wrote it as a mother who … [Read more...]
Parentsā Christmas, Cymplified!
the parents' Christmas lists 'Twas the year before Christmas, and all through the world, plan-ahead parents are writing down potential gifts for their family and friends. The parents' Christmas translate to seemingly endless lists. A list of the gifts the mommy, the daddy and the children were given. Doing this gives them the idea of what to expect or the amount they could reciprocate in kind. Also, the past gifts that the family gave out, so there'd be no duplicate. I confess I do not do … [Read more...]
Keeping Up With Motherhood, Cymplified!
Confusion. Apprehension. Exhaustion. Whether I like it or not, those will always be a part of keeping up with motherhood and all the things that come with it. Even if I am in a season where the children are all in Elementary; and they have no need for milk and diaper changes every few hours, I still feel confused, apprehensive and exhausted. Tutoring three children make my head spin most of the time. I get confused about the schedules and the coverages of the quizzes; also regarding the … [Read more...]
Appreciating Daddy, Cymplified!
Since it is still June, it's still Father's month, haha! A short but sweet post about appreciating daddy... And all the peopleĀ (the moms, the siblings, the uncles, the aunties, the godfathers, etc.) who are like dads; giving guidance and sharing strength. To the dad who would not miss the birth of his child for work or for the world, who is there to ensure his newborn is well-taken care of right from the start. He is there when his wife is recovering... Providing her with everything she … [Read more...]
