Now, it's my turn and it officially started last September 20. You know what's frustrating about ge-lai other than the ordeal of not taking a bath for a month? It's knowing I do have a choice not to follow it, but deciding against what I want because of guilt. And I'd be guilty of not taking care of myself as there's no harm in following the rules. And if I do cheat and take a bath before an entire month passes, I'd be cheating myself. Am I making any sense? They said that if I get sick … [Read more...]
Scheduled C-section, Cymplified!
I was all nerves as I await the delivery date. I guess that's the downside of having a scheduled operation. The anxiety build-up was unsettling. The advantage of it was that I had time to get ready the necessities for the hospital. We also got to arrange for the care of the other children (although things did not go as planned). I also got into the frame of mind to expect the worst, so I would be pleasantly surprised when good things happen. While waiting to be admitted: What number is … [Read more...]
A Little Walk, Cymplified!
Sunday, before I get confined for my scheduled C-section, Rix, Elle and I went on an impromptu outdoor maternity shoot at University of the Philippines campus. We departed late so we were rushing to catch whatever was left of the afternoon sun. Sometimes, a little walk, nothing fancy or expensive, is beautiful in itself. Sometimes a little walk, and including her in the photoshoot, is a touching reminder that Elle's going to be a big sister again. I took this photo when we were done … [Read more...]
Torn {Mommy Guilt}, Cymplified!
Ever since I decided to be a stay-at-home-mom, I have struggled with this decision. I wanted to personally take care of my kids, but I also feel guilty for not contributing financially. Hence, I also have the desire to work. Or at least work from home. It is also a dream of mine to have my own business, but it is difficult to come up with a feasible one. The moms who work from home or who have successful businesses are quite enviable because they have the best of both worlds. Elle: Daddy, … [Read more...]
Labor Contractions, Cymplified!
Believe or not, I have never experienced (natural) contractions with my first two children while I was pregnant with them. Hence, I don't know what a contraction feels like. Really. Last Sunday was an activity-filled day for me. At 11 in the morning we attended a Thomas Train/Angry Birds- themed 1st birthday party. There were games, a host, a magic show - the works. Since Renaissance 3000 was near the party venue, we decided to drop by the Warehouse Sale part 2. Beth was also there and she … [Read more...]
Laughter, Cymplified!
Laughing, something I enjoyed when I was in high school. I loved the company of my friends immensely and laughing with them was a normal occurrence. I would even laugh until my sides hurt and then I would snort, which, I know was very unladylike, but I didn't care. They said laughing is like doing abdominal exercise, I had hoped it was true! As years passed, I noticed that I laughed less and less. Maybe because I don't get to see these friends very often. Maybe because I didn't enjoy college … [Read more...]
Sex During Pregnancy, Cymplified!
Who would have thought that I would write about sex during pregnancy for a magazine? Mommies, have you wondered if it's OK to make love to your husband while you are infanticipating? I have written an article for MomsToday while I was pregnant with my first child in 2007. Check it out below. You can click on the pictures for a larger view. As with anything related to this delicate condition, consulting with the OB is a prerequisite. Having sexy time with the hubby during this time can make a … [Read more...]
