My family and I recently came from a trip to Tagaytay. It was a last-minute getaway. I just packed the morning before leaving! Thankfully, we still got a room at Taal Vista Hotel. Even so, family getaways always excite me. When they were still babies, though, excursions like this need a list first of all. Impromptu ones? A no-no! I would have preferred to stay home than lug the whole nursery to the beach. Think of all the onesies, diapers, burp cloths, towels, bottles, bottle sterilizer, … [Read more...]

Growing Into Nine, Cymplified!
Oh, my goodness! My eldest will be nine tomorrow! 9! N-I-N-E! What does growing into nine mean? One year before I have a decade-old kid! A couple of years before I have a tween in my hands. Soon, there'll be a teen living under our roof. What?!? It's so overwhelming! Aside from the obvious increase in the difficulty of her school lessons, I am prepping myself for puberty and developmental milestones at age nine. Right now, I have noticed that Ella is indeed growing up. I … [Read more...]
The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson, Cymplified!
We are all carrying a picture of ourselves - it's pre-painted based on our statuses in life or on how far our experiences have taken us. For Avelina, the heroine in The Beautiful Pretender, it's the former as her father was a former stable master and she worked as a maidservant. For Lord Thornbeck, it's inheriting the margravate and having a slight handicap. These pictures they carried have a strong impact on the way they see themselves. It also affects their decisions and the future they … [Read more...]
Quest For The Relaxed Mom, Cymplified!
Children view their moms as loving, caring, strict, mean... But, rarely do moms and fun go together. Let alone a relaxed mom who doesn't get affected by the kids' antics. Before I became a mom, I was a 'someone'. I was someone who daydreams. I was a lazy someone. I was a happy-go-lucky someone. I was someone who dares to try the scary roller coaster rides. I was someone who mildly curses. I was someone who rebels a little. I was someone who loves Linkin Park music. I was someone who … [Read more...]
Nutella Milkshake For The Lazy, Cymplified!
Too lazy to take out your blender? Too lazy to write the recipe? That's me! However, I wanted to make this yummy Nutella Milkshake for the kids and me. This was the result. A doodled recipe! I watched the video on Facebook and drew it down. Who could resist Nutella, right? Not my children, that's for sure! Here were two of the ingredients. The shaking definitely exercised my arm muscles! Mixing super thick vanilla ice cream? It was a challenge, hence the lumpy texture. So, … [Read more...]
Before we go away on vacation… Cymplified!
Although intermittent downpours have been happening in my part of the world, I am not ready to give up summer just yet. I am still holding out hope that we would hit the beach. :-) When we do include it in our plans, I have to drag out our luggage. Aside from changes of clothes, underwear and pajamas; there must be swimming clothes, plus the kids' goggles and kickboards. They love frolicking in water! When all that's prepared, save for the vitamins and toothbrushes that I leave until the … [Read more...]
