brick wall with vines

When fear comes crippling, And doubt comes stifling. Ideas rush to my head, But won't flow to my pen. The questions are crippling. The what-ifs are stifling. I write my heart out, Yet nobody's come reading. When blogging's disheartening, When writing's discouraging, When I cannot help but To others myself comparing. Where is the light? How should I write? I have stories to tell, But my voice I cannot find. There comes a point in any journey that we undertake, blogging included, … [Read more...]

quote by Richard DeVos

There are Facebook memes going around again. I was tagged by my friend in one of them. The challenge was to post three positive things every day for seven days. I'm happy to report that I did all of them. Post by Cym Gonzaga-Marzan. Post by Cym Gonzaga-Marzan. Post by Cym Gonzaga-Marzan. Post by Cym Gonzaga-Marzan. Post by Cym Gonzaga-Marzan. For a city-dweller like me, there is a need to escape the smog and noise. One of the places I like to go to that is a bit near, has fresh air and cool weather is Tagaytay. The places I have visited in Tagaytay are Tagaytay Highlands, Canyon Woods, Palace in the Sky, People's Park, Picnic Grove, Sky Ranch, a little of Summit Ridge and Mushroomburger. Honestly, I don't know whether People's Park is the Palace in the Sky or the Picnic Grove. What do you think? Cliffhouse, Tagaytay I have read … [Read more...]

Now 7, Cymplified!

now 7 ella's cake

Some families celebrate their children's seventh birthday in a grand manner. I never quite understood why, maybe I probably never will. That's why, it was as simple as ever in our home when my eldest, Ella, turned seven. Well, usually we make do with store-bought cakes. But, this time, I wanted to try custom cakes from a local baker. She and I went over the designs I wanted, especially ones that have rainbows and ponies on them. This was the outcome of the customized pony and rainbow cake made … [Read more...]

Learning The Art Of Storytelling, Cymplified!

May 18, 2014 by ceemee

Thanks to my hubby Rix, I was able to go to The Art of Storytelling workshop. Thanks to Manila Workshops and GPG Bulilit Bookstore, I was able to go the workshop for free. It was a sunny Saturday. I was ready for a day of learning the art of storytelling, doing activities and shopping, as suggested in the email from Manila Workshops. I wore comfy clothes and a pair of sneakers. Thank God it didn't rain because I took a taxi to the venue, Insular Life Building, Makati. Good thing there are … [Read more...]

April 28, 2014 by ceemee

Why is April special? Aside from it being my birth month, it is also National Poetry Month in America. Is there one here in the Philippines? Anyway, you might be wondering why April is National Poetry Month. According to poets.org, In coordination with poets, booksellers, librarians, and teachers, the Academy [of American Poets] chose a month when poetry could be celebrated with the highest level of participation. Inspired by the successful celebrations of Black History Month (February) and … [Read more...]

Family Getaway: Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Cymplified!

April 24, 2014 by ceemee

Our first summer family getaway was to Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. I have to warn you that this is a long and photo-heavy post. One sunny Wednesday, we drove to Bataan to visit Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar for an overnight stay. We arrived right before lunchtime after being in the car for around three hours. It helped to have a printout of the map to the place. Checking in was a breeze as I have already paid for the room reservation using credit card. I also printed the confirmation … [Read more...]
