A Nanny-less Week So Far, Cymplified!

September 4, 2013 by ceemee

motherhood musings

The alarm clock on my cellphone plays a piano riff at 5:30 AM. I get up at 6. Or 6:30. I read my devotional and talk with the Lord. Then, I see to it that Ella is having her breakfast and goes into the shower after. When finished, she dresses for school. The two little ones then wake up and have milk sometimes, and then breakfast. Conversations by the wooden high chair which the two young ones like and fight over. Food that isn't finished, that I gobble up or that is spit out. What to … [Read more...]

Try Again, Cymplified!

August 16, 2013 by ceemee

“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I'll try again tomorrow.” ― Mary Anne Radmacher Last month, I visited my university to hand in my application at an organization that could launch my dream of becoming a children's poetry book author. After a month of picturing myself writing more poems and dreaming up ideas for a fundraiser, I checked the announcement and was a little crushed to discover that I didn't pass. :-( I was writing … [Read more...]

Lunchbox And Encouragement, Cymplified!

August 6, 2013 by ceemee

A few days before the school started for my eldest, I was nervous and almost panicking. I felt like I had forgotten something she would need. I was dreading the first day of classes, even more than Ella did. I guess it was because of the homework sessions up ahead. These are tests of my patience and my creativity in motivating her to do homework, and also to love learning. I didn't want to be the monster mom I was close to becoming whenever I do her assignments with her. Since she's having … [Read more...]

Hands Free And Connected, Cymplified!

August 1, 2013 by ceemee

Unless one works and lives away from his immediate family, he has no excuse to be glued to the computer or the smartphone all the time. His full presence and undivided attention would be very much appreciated by those who are with him, by his loved ones. The video below is a great reminder for me, and hopefully for you as well, to let go of that gadget for a few minutes and be all there for your parents, your kids, your friends. The video calls on us to disconnect to connect. In line with … [Read more...]

Banish Boredom, Cymplified!

July 29, 2013 by ceemee

I think that more than hate, one thing that would be detrimental to a relationship or end it altogether, is apathy. Apathy happens when a husband stops showing his wife his appreciation through words and actions and vice versa. Apathy happens when a stay-at-home-mom gets tired of the doing the same things every single day for her family. Apathy happens when a child doesn't want to talk with his parents for fear of being scolded. Apathy happens when boredom settles in. I am currently reading … [Read more...]

Birth Story Number One, Cymplified!

July 18, 2013 by ceemee

motherhood musings

Six years ago, in the hospital where I gave birth, a nurse from the nursery told me that my baby needed to be roomed-in because of lack of space. I could not believe it. The notion was too ridiculous for me. There I was, alone in the room (Rix went home to fetch some baby things), the IV still attached to the back of my hand, and I was just starting to get the hang of being back on my feet after the operation. The nurses wheeled in the bassinet containing my little one and I felt like crying. … [Read more...]

Reading Labels, Cymplified!

July 3, 2013 by ceemee

Nope, this post is not about a trip to the grocery store. In one of my posts, ABC’s of Improving Our Relationship With Our Children, Cymplified!, I said that I want zero chances of name-calling and putting negative labels on people. I believe that when we describe someone, the adjectives we use reflect our perspective about that person. I think the way we talk about someone is subjective and that the words we use reveal our character, and not theirs. Do you agree? In line with that, I am … [Read more...]
