What is a hands free life? Would you choose to do that one more thing on your to-do list? Or would you choose to savor that one more day with your loved ones? This thought popped up while I was reading Hands Free Life by Rachel Macy Stafford. I have subscribed to the author's blog www.handsfreemama.com and I have read many articles that struck a chord in my mama heart. Rachel shares stories of moments that held realizations and lessons for her. I am inspired by her Hands Free journey, and … [Read more...]
Understanding The “Bunso”, Cymplified!
Bunso is a Filipino word that pertains to the youngest child in the family. There are connotations surrounding the youngest among siblings. It is assumed that the bunso is usually spoiled rotten, which I hope my baby (and my other kids) will not grow up to be. By being the baby, it's assumed that they garner the most attention and affection, especially from the parents. By being "spoiled", the youngest could get away with anything. I sure felt that way with my youngest brother. … [Read more...]
Motherhood Takes Courage, Cymplified!
Motherhood is not for the faint-hearted. One has to be strong, to be courageous, to stand her ground in the face of equally strong tantrums. The heart must be prepared for thousands of rejections, most of which involves food that the mother prepares, only for the children to spit it out and push the plate away. She's crazy to give up her time for her children, when sometimes, the children won't give up their time to help her. She works so hard to buy a desired toy, only to have it … [Read more...]

This form of upbringing is intended to direct a child towards … [Read more...]

These days, I know what's bothering them because they could verbalize it, even my youngest. Whenever I go out and see chubby babies whose necks are hidden by their pudgy cheeks, whenever I see photos online of toothless … [Read more...]

Meg, the eldest, caught my attention because she was the prettiest. I wanted to be pretty, like her. Writing was one of my pastimes after school, therefore, I had the tendency to admire also Jo for her imagination and her being a free spirit. I wanted to be a pretty tomboy. As I drew women and designed their clothes … [Read more...]
The M’s Of Motherhood, Cymplified!
To the tune of 'What are little girls made of?': What are mothers made of? What are mothers made of? Guilt and grace... Cotton and lace... Cupcakes and wine... All things divine... That's what mothers are made of! 1. Mundane Do you agree that mothers are masters of the mundane? Parenting experts say that babies and children thrive on routine. I don't think anything could get more mundane than feeding, changing soiled clothing, bathing, napping, etc. - basically caring for a human's … [Read more...]
