I cannot remember when commercialized Halloween and Trick-or-Treating started here in the Philippines. Thanks to @momblogger for the enlightening post. I have never donned a costume and went house-hopping asking for candies, I had only seen it done in movies. Why do people celebrate it anyway? If it's supposed to be about the dead and scary stuff, why do people say "happy" Halloween? Having been in a Christian school, it was never encouraged. I think it also depended on my parents and the … [Read more...]
Pro-Lacta Malunggay Capsule, Cymplified!
With my resolve to exclusively breastfeed my third baby, I need all the help I could get. One of them is the supplement that I take along with malunggay leaves cooked in soup (I have this almost every meal) and yummy Mommy Treats. Lots of water, too, to keep me hydrated. As I have mentioned in this post, I won 2 small boxes of Pro-Lacta Malunggay lactation supplement. I think it is helpful in maintaining my milk supply. Pro-Lacta usually is part of the sponsors of mommy and breastfeeding … [Read more...]
SIDS, Cymplified!
Are you a worry-wart? If so, then you'll have a thousand more things to worry about when you become a mother. Before you start to be anxious if your child's going to be a responsible and caring adult, before you think about what kind of boyfriend or girlfriend she or he will have, before you worry where to get money for her or his tuition, there's SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Sounds scary, huh? The fact that the cause is undetermined makes it all the more worrisome. And the … [Read more...]
Ge-Lai, Cymplified!
Now, it's my turn and it officially started last September 20. You know what's frustrating about ge-lai other than the ordeal of not taking a bath for a month? It's knowing I do have a choice not to follow it, but deciding against what I want because of guilt. And I'd be guilty of not taking care of myself as there's no harm in following the rules. And if I do cheat and take a bath before an entire month passes, I'd be cheating myself. Am I making any sense? They said that if I get sick … [Read more...]
Scheduled C-section, Cymplified!
I was all nerves as I await the delivery date. I guess that's the downside of having a scheduled operation. The anxiety build-up was unsettling. The advantage of it was that I had time to get ready the necessities for the hospital. We also got to arrange for the care of the other children (although things did not go as planned). I also got into the frame of mind to expect the worst, so I would be pleasantly surprised when good things happen. While waiting to be admitted: What number is … [Read more...]
Labor Contractions, Cymplified!
Believe or not, I have never experienced (natural) contractions with my first two children while I was pregnant with them. Hence, I don't know what a contraction feels like. Really. Last Sunday was an activity-filled day for me. At 11 in the morning we attended a Thomas Train/Angry Birds- themed 1st birthday party. There were games, a host, a magic show - the works. Since Renaissance 3000 was near the party venue, we decided to drop by the Warehouse Sale part 2. Beth was also there and she … [Read more...]
Laughter, Cymplified!
Laughing, something I enjoyed when I was in high school. I loved the company of my friends immensely and laughing with them was a normal occurrence. I would even laugh until my sides hurt and then I would snort, which, I know was very unladylike, but I didn't care. They said laughing is like doing abdominal exercise, I had hoped it was true! As years passed, I noticed that I laughed less and less. Maybe because I don't get to see these friends very often. Maybe because I didn't enjoy college … [Read more...]
