I have always dreamed of having a weekly family picnic. I think it would do the children loads of good to run on the grass, climb a few trees (maybe), and to inhale fresh air that we sorely lack here in the city. Well, a part of that dream came true when we had a family picnic fun photo-shoot one Sunday. Prior to that, my 5-year-old prayed with me to Jesus and we asked Him to please hold off the rain. And He answered our prayer! Hooray! Although I didn't get to eat anything while we're on the … [Read more...]
Peace, Cymplified!
Peace is at times elusive. It is especially so when we are pitted with deadlines, the to-do lists, planning, worries and even pesky insect intruders. A home with a frenzy of little tots, boundless energy, daily chores, clutter and needs to be met often offer little peaceful times or none at all. Thankfully, Jesus overcame the world - the world and its many tribulations. He offers a well of peace through His comforting words from the Bible. He offers peace through life's little heartwarming … [Read more...]
How are you feeling today? | Disconnected, Cymplified!
There are some days when I feel so out of sync with my loved ones. There are some days I cannot understand what they need and what they are communicating to me. There are some days my frustration gets out of hand and the heat rises. There are some days I feel like my patience and love are running out. There are some days I am feeling disconnected from my family. Have you ever had some days like that? I admit I have a checklist in my mind of the basic things I need to do for each child. Three … [Read more...]
Camera-Playing, Cymplified!
One way to prevent boredom during car rides is to take pictures of ourselves or the surroundings. I chose the former since it's raining and I didn't want to get my cellphone wet by opening the window. For me, one-on-one time with each of the children is important to discover their unique personalities, needs and interests. I am for the idea of parents taking each of the kids to "dates". Cymple ones like running errands, having lunch or dinner, quick visiting with families or relatives, or … [Read more...]
Joy, Cymplified!
Joy is often associated with feelings of happiness and with events that are in accordance with our delights. How can we experience joy when faced with difficult times? In my opinion, it is through hope. Under trying circumstances, deep joy comes with the hope that my help, my rescue will come because I trust in God's promises. This could be better illustrated with my breastfeeding journey. My "breastfriend" said that it would be easier for me since I am a stay-at-home mom. But, it was (and … [Read more...]
Self-Control {Yelling at Children}, Cymplified!
Just reading the title of this article had me swallowing the lump in my throat. In my mind's eye, I was raising my hand and slowly sinking in my seat. Another mommy guilt. Stop Yelling at Your Children - Why and How | CleverFather - StumbleUpon. I think I am quite decided not to yell at my children (now, I just need to follow through, the hardest part). It sure takes a very conscious effort. I should be deliberate and intentional about it, keeping the following things in mind as I interact … [Read more...]
Fathers are…, Cymplified!
The month of June seemed to breeze by in the blink of an eye, don't you think? Before it ends, I would just like to post one more thing about fathers. Or two. Faithful, always there, truthful & trustworthy, honorable, ever-loving, righteous and supportive are what describe fathers best. Dad opened the jar of pickles when no one else could. He was the only one in the house who wasn't afraid to go into the basement by himself. He cut himself shaving, but no one kissed it or got excited … [Read more...]
