Bunso is a Filipino word that pertains to the youngest child in the family. There are connotations surrounding the youngest among siblings. It is assumed that the bunso is usually spoiled rotten, which I hope my baby (and my other kids) will not grow up to be. By being the baby, it's assumed that they garner the most attention and affection, especially from the parents. By being "spoiled", the youngest could get away with anything. I sure felt that way with my youngest brother. … [Read more...]
July And Kidzville, Cymplified!
It's November, and I'm still talking about July? Am I crazy? Probably. But... July was a month of hot and sunny days. And also cold, wet, rainy and stormy days. Of the children's staying home three days before one weekend because of class suspension. July was a month of broken scanner glass plate. Of nervousness and palpitation. Of pain on the left side of the chest. Of a dark cloud looming overhead. The cloud that is breast cancer. July was a month of Cayla's sudden clinginess … [Read more...]
Taking Gifting to the Next Level, Cymplified!
Taking Gifting To The Next Level is my entry to the Nuffnang and SM Supermalls blog contest. In the blink of an eye, it's November already! Pretty soon, Christmas will arrive. Silly me, I still haven't put up the tree. Yet, I have my list of wishes five. First is one I want for a long time. It's a modest new home in a new place, where there is fresh air sublime, and a garden grows on lots of space. The family cottage will be simple and cozy. It will be furnished with a library … [Read more...]
Why I Love Bath Time, Cymplified!
No, it's not because of some special shampoo or body wash that I or the kids use. I usually look forward to weekends. The children get to rest from school. Helping them with their homework is less hurried, therefore, less stressful. I, on the other hand, get to sleep in, sometimes. Yet, I dreaded last weekend because the second quarter exams were just around the corner. I almost wished that Saturday would not arrive. But, of course, Saturday did arrive and we started to review in the … [Read more...]

It is never easy to teach our children how to maintain their rooms clean and well-arranged. The truth is that most kids consider such activities so boring that they rarely listen to the detailed instructions given by us, their parents. No matter how hard we try, some children are simply reluctant to clean their rooms on a regular basis. If you wonder how to create a safe and … [Read more...]
Work Worth Doing, Cymplified!
What is work worth doing? Sometimes, I would feel like I'm thrashing about in life, crashing in all directions. Aimless, like a headless chicken, and nowhere near my dreams. Engaging in pointless and purposeless activities, generating ideas that don't appear to work. Seemingly profound questions pop into my mind like white strands of hair pop out of my head. Both are signs that I am becoming more mature... Maybe! What's the significance of my existence? Do the things I do … [Read more...]
