The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson, Cymplified!

June 16, 2016 by ceemee

the beautiful pretender cymplified book review

We are all carrying a picture of ourselves - it's pre-painted based on our statuses in life or on how far our experiences have taken us. For Avelina, the heroine in The Beautiful Pretender, it's the former as her father was a former stable master and she worked as a maidservant. For Lord Thornbeck, it's inheriting the margravate and having a slight handicap. These pictures they carried have a strong impact on the way they see themselves. It also affects their decisions and the future they … [Read more...]

Quest For The Relaxed Mom, Cymplified!

June 13, 2016 by ceemee

a relaxed mom is a faithful mom

Children view their moms as loving, caring, strict, mean... But, rarely do moms and fun go together. Let alone a relaxed mom who doesn't get affected by the kids' antics. Before I became a mom, I was a 'someone'. I was someone who daydreams. I was a lazy someone. I was a happy-go-lucky someone. I was someone who dares to try the scary roller coaster rides. I was someone who mildly curses. I was someone who rebels a little. I was someone who loves Linkin Park music. I was someone who … [Read more...]

Nutella Milkshake For The Lazy, Cymplified!

June 6, 2016 by ceemee

Too lazy to take out your blender? Too lazy to write the recipe? That's me! However, I wanted to make this yummy Nutella Milkshake for the kids and me. This was the result. A doodled recipe! I watched the video on Facebook and drew it down. Who could resist Nutella, right? Not my children, that's for sure! Here were two of the ingredients. The shaking definitely exercised my arm muscles! Mixing super thick vanilla ice cream? It was a challenge, hence the lumpy texture. So, … [Read more...]

Before we go away on vacation… Cymplified!

before you go away on vacation infographic

Although intermittent downpours have been happening in my part of the world, I am not ready to give up summer just yet. I am still holding out hope that we would hit the beach. :-) When we do include it in our plans, I have to drag out our luggage. Aside from changes of clothes, underwear and pajamas; there must be swimming clothes, plus the kids' goggles and kickboards. They love frolicking in water! When all that's prepared, save for the vitamins and toothbrushes that I leave until the … [Read more...]

Family Day Out: Bag of Beans Twin Lakes Tagaytay, Cymplified!

May 26, 2016 by ceemee

bag of beans twin lakes tagaytay

The plan was to have cakes and coffee in Starbucks, and we drove more than two hours for that... To Tagaytay! Only, we ended up in Bag of Beans Twin Lakes. The parking slots outside were full and ours joined the party of cars on the road. The line in the so-called "most beautiful Starbucks" snaked from the counter right to the door. We went in anyway. We descended the stairs to the seating area and emerged on the grassy space behind the building. This overlooks the Taal Lake. I was … [Read more...]

The Hearts We Mend by Kathryn Springer, Cymplified!

book reviews the hearts we mend

Mothers have specific seasons in their lives. In my life, it's the season of school-aged children, whom I am continually teaching, molding, guiding and lifting up to the Lord in prayer. In the book The Hearts We Mend by Kathryn Springer, the heroine, Evie's season was something I have yet to experience. I know I will experience it in the future - her grown-up son getting married and leaving her nest. Reading about it is one of way of gaining insight. God meets us in our messes. That's what I … [Read more...]

Family Getaway: EDSA Shangri-La Celebrated Mother’s Day, Cymplified!

May 19, 2016 by ceemee

for mothers

I was excited to finally take a break because it's Mother's Day. A couple of days before that our helper went on her annual vacation. Who could blame me for desiring time away from the kitchen sink, the mop and the dust? There would have been more of that in the next few days to come. So for the moment, I dressed up and showed up at the front desk, where I was presented with KitKat Rubies (mmm....!).EDSA Shangri-La Hotel also celebrated Mother's Day with the moms. My family and I then went up … [Read more...]
