In the “Golden Enchanted Forest”! #children #art

In the Golden Enchanted Forest, the animals are always happy. Although they are different from each other, they live harmoniously.

They have all that they need; plenty of space, sunshine, water and food. They are blessed with an environment that is beautiful and good.

The trees make great shelters, they are all healthy and sturdy. Their leaves look like unique crowns, they are colorful and quite pretty.

Each day, during sunset, all the animals come out to watch. The Golden Enchanted Forest is bathed in molten gold poured from the sky; glitters that the leaves, the trunks, the grass and the flowers catch.

Empty tissue paper rolls. We have a steady supply of them. Ella took out the brown (burnt sienna, says the package) acrylic paint and a paintbrush; she decided to paint them one day. Following her lead, I suggested that we make trees out of these rolls and then mount them on pieces of cardboard to make a forest. She happily agreed. The younger ones also painted with their sister.

I cut out different leaves from scraps of art paper and colored paper; glued them to most of the trees. Ella taped the cardboard rectangles together and stuck the trees to the base. Next up was to paint the “roots”, the “forest floor” and the “stream”.

At this stage, I already cannot wait to see and share with you the kids’ handiwork!

Aaaaand the finished product! Viewed from the top.

There were flowers on the ground and on the trunks. Each tree has a name, according to Ella.

I talked with Ella about this project that we made. It was an opportunity to talk about God. I likened the trees to people who keep God’s Word in their hearts. Because…

Psalm 1: 1-3 (NIV)

1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

What other crafts do you make from empty toilet paper rolls? Please share in the comments!
