A May Bride by Meg Moseley, Cymplified!

September 16, 2014 by ceemee

Ellie is a country girl in the city of Atlanta. Like any other girl, she also dreams of a perfect wedding with the perfect gown already in mind. Not unlike the wedding her baby sister Alexa is planning back home. Their single mom will pay for Alexa’s wedding, but Ellie started her own wedding fund years ago. She only needs to find a groom.

Ellie bumps into a man in a wedding she found herself in. She’s noticed him around the neighborhood, but today he introduces himself as Gray Whitby. They embark on a whirlwind romance, but her mother doesn’t trust freewheeling men like Gray.

When Ellie risks her own future for her sister’s sake, Gray feels betrayed. Will he always play second fiddle to Ellie’s family?

Will Ellie and Gray reconcile their differences so her dream wedding can come true, or will the romance they’ve begun come crashing down?

I super enjoyed A May Bride! The characters are so real. I thought Gray was too good to be true, but he does get hurt and angry, too. Much like my own hubby. I belted out Jesus loves me, this I know…. You’ll know why when you read the book. *winks* I am reminded that even if I have made mistakes, God’s grace will redeem me. He will forgive me when I repent and turn away from sin, because He still loves me. He always will.

I thought of this verse while reading this book. Does this also apply to the woman if she’s going to be married?

Ephesians 5:31 ESV

“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”

The plot is interesting as her mom seems to control all aspects of her life. I know that feeling, especially when I want to break free of expectations, limits, and rules that are imposed on me. The story is different from the other books in the Year of Weddings series because it’s told in first person perspective. But, the way it was written had me thinking it was in third person point of view. So weird!

I would definitely recommend this book to my friends since it’s romantic but not too mushy. It also shows the importance of communication in relationships.

Note: I received an e-book copy from the publisher through BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.
