One of my cousins from my dad’s side got married last week. Beautiful wedding.
It brought to mind memories of my own wedding…
And the several things I wanted to change: The proposal. One of my wedding entourage. The way I held my father’s arm while walking down the aisle. The photographer. Where we took photos after the ceremony. The time the reception started. The host. My speech.
I didn’t know better then. We didn’t have a wedding coordinator. I didn’t know I was going to give a speech. I didn’t have any experience (that was my first time getting married! :-D) But, I loved planning the wedding with my ex-boyfriend, just the two of us working on a “project”. I loved choosing songs with him, loved attending marriage counseling at the church, loved looking for flowers, loved deciding on our wedding cake, etc.
Well, what is important is our wonderful marriage now. Christian weddings are a good reminder to keep God in the center of our union and to honor my vows. There will always be disagreements and pet peeves, but it’s about choosing to communicate lovingly, expressing in a gentle way my thoughts even if they differ from his, and deciding to love and respect my partner no matter what.
It’s not yet our anniversary month and already I am being mushy. This is the effect of attending a wedding perhaps. Another cousin from my mother’s side will be getting married end of this month. June brides!
This song was included in the wedding playlist:
I’m not a fan of Twilight, but I think this song will catch on at other weddings. Or did it already?

Yes, what matters is the marriage and the life you have now. It really matters to have Christ at the apex of our relationship. More years to come to both of you! π

I just want to know the opinions of women who were married. Is it okay to have civil wedding first before the church? We are really short in expenses but we already want to pursue it. Hmmmmm..
ceemee says
I think that’s okay. So your church wedding won’t be rushed.

The wedding is just the start of life between 2 couples. There will be much ups and downs. Indeed, what is important is God’s completing the marriage relationship.
