Thank You, God, for Blessing Me by Max Lucado, Illustrated by Frank Endersby, Cymplified!

February 11, 2013 by ceemee

Thank You, God, for Blessing Me is a children’s e-book for children two to six years old. It’s about a plump caterpillar called Little Hermie praying to God. He enumerates the blessings he is thankful to God for. This story is to inspire little children to also look around, smile and bow their heads in prayers of thanksgiving.

One Christian value I want to instill in my children is thankfulness. I read this with my 5-year-old aloud and asked her to copy Little Hermie and say his prayer of thanks with me. She was not impressed with the e-book, however. I think she would prefer a physical book. Or since I opened this book on the iPad, I guess she’s used to interactive storybook apps. The format of the e-book is not very orderly because there’s a blank last page and a stanza was cut to the next page. I personally find the illustrations adorable. The prayer Little Hermie said could be a format to follow when I would say a thanksgiving prayer with my children, changing the list to those applicable to them. To help children learn to be thankful and prayerful is the message of this book which I would recommend parents to add to their library.
