Warning: Cheese overload!
Exactly 11 years ago, on a much cooler afternoon, after satisfying a “prerequisite” I set, he asked me this question on a ride in the IKOT jeep,
“Do you accept me as your boyfriend?”
He was my very first.
And also my last.
Five years later, he became my ex-boyfriend.
Because, five years later, we were exchanging vows on the altar of NMEC.
It surprises me to realize how long I have known him. Who knew that a stranger whom I met online could be my partner in life? Only God! Of all the guys I had EB with, he was the one I was most comfortable with.
I have to admit that my decisions prior to having children were not very intentional. But I agree with the saying, “Falling in love is by chance, staying in love is by choice.”
To make a relationship or marriage work, constant commitment and renewal of the decision to love is needed each day. And this is possible because of the Lord.
Our un-forgotten anniversary is our anniversary as boyfriend-girlfriend, some people celebrate it even after getting married, we don’t. But today, I was suddenly feeling nostalgic and amazed at how God led Rix to me just when I was not really looking.
