Hi moms! How was your Mother's Day? I know it's been weeks, but I would like to know. :-) Mine was simple. I went biking with my husband Rix in the morning. Then my family and I had lunch with my parents, two of my brothers and their families. We hanged out at my parents' home until it was time to head to Rix's sister's house for the dinner with his side. That's all! In between preparing for these family gatherings, there are the mundane things such as feeding, bathing, dressing up, making … [Read more...]
Learning The Art Of Storytelling, Cymplified!
Thanks to my hubby Rix, I was able to go to The Art of Storytelling workshop. Thanks to Manila Workshops and GPG Bulilit Bookstore, I was able to go the workshop for free. It was a sunny Saturday. I was ready for a day of learning the art of storytelling, doing activities and shopping, as suggested in the email from Manila Workshops. I wore comfy clothes and a pair of sneakers. Thank God it didn't rain because I took a taxi to the venue, Insular Life Building, Makati. Good thing there are … [Read more...]
Special April, Cymplified!
Why is April special? Aside from it being my birth month, it is also National Poetry Month in America. Is there one here in the Philippines? Anyway, you might be wondering why April is National Poetry Month. According to poets.org, In coordination with poets, booksellers, librarians, and teachers, the Academy [of American Poets] chose a month when poetry could be celebrated with the highest level of participation. Inspired by the successful celebrations of Black History Month (February) and … [Read more...]
Family Getaway: Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Cymplified!
Our first summer family getaway was to Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. I have to warn you that this is a long and photo-heavy post. One sunny Wednesday, we drove to Bataan to visit Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar for an overnight stay. We arrived right before lunchtime after being in the car for around three hours. It helped to have a printout of the map to the place. Checking in was a breeze as I have already paid for the room reservation using credit card. I also printed the confirmation … [Read more...]
Life List, Cymplified!
I have been thinking a lot about what I want to achieve in my lifetime. Some people call this the bucket list, some people call this the life list, one girl called it the mighty life list (she actually built a community around making life lists, helping others create one and work towards checking the items off). I confess that I am a person with nary a plan for her life. It's true! I didn't even plan to get married and now I have a family of my own. Now that I am more mature, I feel the need for … [Read more...]
Newborn Health, Cymplified!
Oh, what a delight it is to meet our bundles of joy for the first time! In the nine months that I have been carrying them, I kept anticipating what my babies will look like. To finally touch my lips to their soft skin when the nurse carried them to me after my operation still stirs up a blissful feeling within. More than my children's physical appearances, their health is of utmost importance to me. Ensuring that a child is not just surviving, but thriving, is every parent's responsibility. And, … [Read more...]
A January Bride by Deborah Raney, Cymplified!
Annabeth's Inn became more than a peaceful place where author Madeleine Houser continued writing her latest novel, when the construction at her sister's place became too distracting. She was grateful to octogenarian Ginny Ross, her neighbor and friend, for the arrangement made with the inn's owner and Ginny's friend, Arthur Tyler. One note left by Madeleine to Arthur started a correspondence between them like old friends, although they have never met. Both of them enjoyed their daily exchanges, … [Read more...]
