About the Author: Louise Courey Nadeau
Passionate about empowering and inspiring children around the world, Louise Courey Nadeau, born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and mother of two girls and two boys created her first fairy tale Magelica’s Voyage, with the second book in the series, The Rescue, launched June 2015. “Through life’s trials and tribulations, I always believed I could. With the Magelica book series my goal is to take young girls and their parents and teachers on empowering adventures and to inspire and encourage them to believe that they are amazing just the way they are, and to discover the power of love, positivity, and believing in themselves. “Magelica’s Voyage is inspired by my life, my family, and the special people and places I love”, says Courey Nadeau. “All of the characters in the story, including Magelica are reflections of the person I am- the wacky part, the funny part, the philosopher, the teacher, the caretaker, the chosen mom, the giver, and of course the dreamer. What would Magelica do, I often ask, and I get the answer. When you fly with Magelica, the possibilities are endless and there is magic all around.” To read her blogs and learn more about Louise Courey Nadeau please visit Magelica’s Voyage website at Magelica.com. my Magelica’s Voyage review
I read this book on the ePub. I promise I did not change the settings of iBooks. It showed tiny pages which I had to manually magnify, losing its formatting. But, besides that glitch, I was enchanted with the illustrations of the books. I especially love the mix of colors of the backgrounds.
My kids love to hear their birth stories, and Magelica is the same. I guess children could relate with that feeling.
Children also love adventures. They love to imagine being in another place and dealing with magic. Books like this could stir their imaginations.
In this book, the readers get to fly to a magical place with Magelica where she learns about the importance of being herself.
It’s a nice read, but for children, it might be too wordy and the sentences long-winded.
my Magelica’s Voyage, The Rescue review
As usual, the illustrations are amazing. My 8-year-old has just one question, “Why does Goldy look scared?” This is when they were are riding on the galleon.
I am kind of expecting something challenging that’s going to happen to the prince while awaiting his rescue. After all, the island where he’s trapped has an unpleasant name. I felt a twinge of disappointment at the lack of excitement.
As a mom like Queen Raya, I could feel her worry for her son. I like that the story reminds its readers to laugh, smile and be joyful even in times of anxiety and fear. It actually brings to mind the Bible verse from
James 1:2-3 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”
It still didn’t answer Magelica’s questions about her origins, but obviously that’s going to be the gist of the third installment. I also hope there will not be any romantic inclinations.
Although, the sentences are lengthy and the story lacks something that holds the attention of my daughter, it still makes me smile and it touches my worrying heart.
Note: I received both books with compliments of the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
