There are some days when I feel so out of sync with my loved ones. There are some days I cannot understand what they need and what they are communicating to me. There are some days my frustration gets out of hand and the heat rises. There are some days I feel like my patience and love are running out. There are some days I am feeling disconnected from my family. Have you ever had some days like that?
I admit I have a checklist in my mind of the basic things I need to do for each child. Three columns, three names, under each name are:
⭕Breakfast
⭕Vitamins
⭕Snacks
⭕Lunch
⭕Toothbrush
⭕Nap
⭕Homework (for my eldest)
⭕Snacks
⭕Dinner
⭕Toothbrush
⭕Bedtime
That’s why the article I read from The Better Mom is so spot on. I must ask myself first, “Where is my heart?”
Matthew 6:21
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
I agree with this statement very much: “I cannot love my children in my own strength. I’ve tried – and I’ve failed; countless times. Only Christ can love my children through me.”
Sometimes, what I say to my children could cause me to feel disconnected from them as much as when I don’t say much. Here is an article that could help me to watch my words.
Positive Reinforcements: 9 Things You Shouldn’t Say to Your Child
Remember my post on improving my relationship with my children? I read about habits of connection that I could incorporate in my daily interaction with the little ones.
10 Habits to Strengthen Your Relationship with Your Child
Truly, motherhood is hard work and heart work and completely fulfilling when I’m connected to Jesus Christ, to my husband and my children.
