One way to prevent boredom during car rides is to take pictures of ourselves or the surroundings. I chose the former since it’s raining and I didn’t want to get my cellphone wet by opening the window. For me, one-on-one time with each of the children is important to discover their unique personalities, needs and interests. I am for the idea of parents taking each of the kids to “dates”. Cymple ones like running errands, having lunch or dinner, quick visiting with families or relatives, or discovering new places would also suffice.
In the picture above, we took our eldest scouting for party venues for her baby sister’s birthday celebration. I think it made her feel a little important participating in the planning process. I also asked her what she thought of the place. In the car, we had conversations and I am amazed at how much her memory retains like details of a TV show she watched a few days ago.
A cymple thing like camera-playing could create lasting memories (that are captured, too!) with my children which I can look back upon fondly.
