Special April, Cymplified!

April 28, 2014 by ceemee

Why is April special? Aside from it being my birth month, it is also National Poetry Month in America. Is there one here in the Philippines? Anyway, you might be wondering why April is National Poetry Month. According to poets.org,

In coordination with poets, booksellers, librarians, and teachers, the Academy [of American Poets] chose a month when poetry could be celebrated with the highest level of participation. Inspired by the successful celebrations of Black History Month (February) and Women’s History Month (March), and on the advice of teachers and librarians, April seemed the best time within the year to turn attention toward the art of poetryβ€”in an ultimate effort to encourage poetry readership year-round.

Isn’t it nice? My birthday is in April, I like poetry, and it’s National Poetry Month! πŸ™‚

Earth Day, also falls on April, April 22 to be exact. So, here’s a reminder to save our planet! It’s the only one with chocolate in it! πŸ˜€

I was just wondering, why doesn’t earth hour fall on earth day? Do you know?

My special April also saw the kids enjoy the beach twice. First in Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, the second one in Pico de Loro, which I am yet to write about. Plus, playtime with their cousins in the pool at my second brother’s place.

So, for National Poetry Month and in line with getting in touch with nature and saving our planet, I am sharing with you Robert Frost’s poem called God’s Garden.

April

Again, I picked up the Robert Frost Selected Poems book a friend gave me, hoping I will finish it this time. πŸ™‚

How about your April? Anything special happened? πŸ™‚

April was a mixture of both downs and ups for me. I learned from the downs and celebrated the ups. Great that April is your special month,

Nice poem there. Imagine there is such celebration in other countries. I remember when we were in HS, one of our project is to write a poem in Filipino with not less than 4 stanza. It took me weeks before finally submit my project. I am not into poetry kasi. hehehe

Belated Happy Birthday, Cym! April was indeed a great month for me as well. For starters, I graduated with month. That is a very beautiful poem that you shared.

With regards to Earth hour not being on Earth day, maybe its so that we can help save the earth in 2 separate days?

You had a great April. Honestly, even if my April is full of stress I still love it. My son started his summer class last April and it was his first time at school. I had mixed emotions. I’m happy to see him finally going to school but I fear that he might not do well as he’s an hyperactive kid. Fortunately, he’s doing okay. May naman is my birth month and I’m looking forward for a kinder month for me, hehe. May God bless us more and keep us all safe and healthy.
